11-20-2009 FRIDAY NIGHT OFF-ROAD RACE RESULTS

Nov 21st, 2009 by Brianh | 0

The Stock SCT class points series continued on a cold Friday night at Freedom Park. Many more racers came out to enter the series for the second race of the four race series. Carlos Franco took the lead in the points series with a close win over Steve Rowley in the first race, but Steve took over the lead in the second night of the series with the win in the main and Carlos finishing third, giving Steve Rowley a one point lead in the series.

Lindsey Thompson made her return to Novice racing and in her first night back went on to win the Novice A main. Lindsey raced well in the seven car A main and finished almost a lap ahead of second place finisher Evan Sutton.

Jeremy Kortz, normally the dominate 1/8 scale gas buggy racer on Friday nights, brought out a new 1/10 Ofna 4WD SCT to race in the SCT Mod class. Jeremy easily won the A main being the only 4WD SCT to compete in the A main. Matt Armstrong was the first 2WD SCT to finish, finishing second and well ahead of the rest of the field.

1/8 scale is still proving to be popular on Friday nights. A good turnout for 1/8 Gas and Electric made for a lot of close and exciting racing. Karl Rolf has been trying to show the gas racers that the electrics can compete, but it was the Travis Erkeneff with his gas Buggy and Shane Stader with his gas Truggy fighting it out early in the race for the lead, with Travis eventually finishing almost two laps ahead of Shane and Karl.
