On-Road Race Results 7/11/10 & 7/25/10

Jul 25th, 2010 by reenmachine | 0

Here are the race results for the on-road races from 7/11/10 and today, 7/25/10.

Super Stock (17.5/open ESC) was the big class again today, with two full heats.  As evidence of the speed of this class, A-Main winner Orrin Jensen ran 26 laps in 6:03.129, then also won the Open Mod class, where he ran 26 laps in 6:00.808.

There was a full field of Mini Coopers, and a strong F1 showing split evenly between rubber and foam tires.

A front-wheel-drive Tamiya FF03 ran in the silver can class with the 4WD touring cars and showed that it was capable of holding its own.  The silver can racing was exceptionally clean, with ZERO car-to-car contact in the entire main!  It goes to show that if you slow things down a bit great battles will ensue, with less crashing and far fewer broken parts.

Off-Road Track Closure for Full Rebuild

Jul 8th, 2010 by reenmachine | 0

I wanted to update all of you on the status of the off road track re-build and outline the dates of the track closure. As always, I post this info on a few different websites, but I know I simply can’t reach everybody, so if you know some folks who don’t surf the web, please pass the word along to them.

Off-Road Track Closure Dates:
July 15th – August 13th

On July 15th a temporary fence will be put up around the entire off-road track.  During the weekend of the 16th, we will be mixing up the dirt and removing all the dirt from Roadrunner Hill to replace/fix the retaining wall.  This work will continue for two weeks.

On July 31st, Joey C. and crew will be back out to re-construct the new layout.   This effort will last about a week.

The week of August 9th, we will focus on watering the track and completing any open tasks.

August 13th, the track will be open only for those registered for the Golden State SCT Champs.   No Nitro or 1/8 cars will be allowed on the track.  This will be the only day for practice on the new layout.   The cost for practice will be $5.00 per person and power will be available.

Please feel free to email steveb@roadrunnersrc.com with any questions.
Thanks
Steve

RACE RESULTS: 6/27/2010 ON-ROAD

Jun 27th, 2010 by Brianh | 0

The new Stock and Super Stock 17.5 classes were run for the first time at the Sunday race. Stock 17.5 touring cars are now restricted to non-timing advance ESC’s. The Super Stock 17.5 class allows for timing advance ESC’s and replaces the Super Stock 13.5 class. The popularity of touring cars with new timing advance ESC’s was evident by the large turnout for the Super Stock class. There were 17 entries in the Super Stock class making it the largest class of the day.

With Bill Secara moving out of the Novice Touring Car class it was now Everett Campbell that was the fastest driver in the class, Everett took the TQ in qualifying and went on to win the A main. The Silver can class which looks like it has replaced the RCGT class due to its popularity had some close and competitive racing in the A main with Rich Mappin, Lee Criger, and Kale Desbrow all in close contention for the lead. They finished within 7 seconds of each other with Rich Mappin taking the win.

Cody Secara ran a smooth race in the Stock 17.5 trouing car class and beat out top qualifier Lee Criger. Orrin Jensen and Oliver Clipper were the fastest drivers in the Super Stock 17.5 and Open TC classes. Orrin took the win in Super Stock with Oliver second and Oliver took the win in Open TC with Orrin second.

Other winners for the day include Dave Berger in the F1-Foam class, Steve Bray in the Mini class, Dave Berger 1/12 Scale pan car class, and Charles Lightfoot F1-Rubber class.

06-20-2010 SUNDAY OFF-ROAD RACE RESULTS

Jun 20th, 2010 by Brianh | 0

There were 25 entries for the Father’s Day race. Bill Secara directed the days racing and ran a smooth program. Eighth Scale combined and Novice were the largest classes of the day, each with 8 entries.

Jeremy Kortz maintained his dominance at Freedom Park in the eighth scale combined class. Even with a slow start in the A main Jeremy went on to lap the entire field and take the win. Mike Scheumaker led the entire A main in the 4X4 SCT class, but was followed closely by Carlos France making it a very competitive race.

Erik Bjork and Kale Desbrow were to ones to beat in the SCT ROAR class with Erik taking the TQ spot. Kale went on to win the A main finishing 3 seconds ahead of Erik. The TQ in the novice class was Jerry Robberg and the A main winner was Becerra.
